USA Swimming Changes Background Check Company and Procedure
USA Swimming has changed the provider for our required background checks! The National Center for Safety Initiatives (NCSI) has been selected. Here is what you need to know going forward:

The cost is the same for both new and renewal background checks.
No Additional State Fees: Members from states such as New York, which previously incurred additional
court fees, will no longer incur extra charges. - Background Check Initiation
SWIMS Access to the background check has not changed. SWIMS will redirect members to the NCSI portal where they will
create a profile to then initiate their background check. - NCSI Portal
Members will create a login in the NCSI portal to: complete background check requirements, track the status of their background check and chat live with the NCSI Support Team. - Top Frequently Asked Question: More FAQs can be found on the USA Swimming website here.
Q: If my background check is still valid and not about to expire, do I need to renew my background check now?
A: No. Members who currently have a valid background check in their USA Swimming account do not need to renew at this time due to this change. Only new members or those whose background check is close to expiring need to initiate a background check.
