Both of the Age Group Championships for 2025 were over-enrolled, overly long, leaving little time for appropriate rest and recuperation for athletes, coaches and officials. This happened because the Board in 2024 overruled the Age Group Committee time standard recommendations, creating very lenient 15-18 time standards that were used in the 2025 championships, contributing to these difficulties. Congratulations to Connor Ventura from the Maui Swim Club. At the recent Bill Smith Invitational, he swam to a time of 2:04.76 in the boys 11-12 200 yard IM. He broke a record from 1998 (almost 30 years ago) by over a second. The previous record was set at 2:05.91. Great job Connor, keep it up!
